CATTLE RULES

 

ENTRIES CLOSE    May 29th, 2008  -

 

Cattle Show – Sunday, June 15th commencing at 9:00 a.m

1. Animals must be registered at office before entering grounds.

2. Entry Fees:   If entered before the closing date of May 29th, the entry fee will be $6.00 per animal, $6.00 for group.  If entered after the closing date, the entry fee will be $12.00 per animal, $12.00 per group.  Also 15% of prize winnings.

Entry fees are not refundable .GST & PST included.  No entry substitutions.

3. Exhibitors are asked to let us know by June 5th if unable to come. They are also asked to submit their telephone numbers on the entry forms.

4. Cattle classes will be shown as scheduled and exhibitors are requested to have their cattle on the grounds by noon on Friday, June 13th .

Cattle must remain until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

5. No charge for cattle stalls. No vehicles allowed to park in front of cattle barns

6. All animals must be registered at the time of making entries. The registered name, the ATQ number (of the animal and the site), name and registration numbers of the sire and dam, and all other pertinent information must be included and clearly printed on the entry form. - All animals must be tagged or they will not be permitted on the grounds.  If an animal is found without their tags, the exhibitor will be held liable for any infractions.

7.  Exhibitors must have registration certificates and production certificates on hand and produce same when requested  by an official. Pedigrees and certificates must come at  the same time as the cattle.

8.  There must be a least three exhibitors in each breed of dairy classifications.  If less than three exhibitors in one of the following breeds:  Holstein, Ayrshire, and Jersey, also less than 24 per breed, only 50% of the prizes offered will be paid that breed by this exhibition.

9. No animal may be shown in more than one class for single animals except for a championship, a special prize or in the Best Udder Class.  To be eligible for a group class, every member of the group must be exhibited in its appropriate class for single animals.

10. HEALTH REGULATIONS: All cattle offered for entry to the Ormstown Exhibition must be free from or contact with any contagious

or infectious disease for a period of at least sixty days prior to the opening of the exhibition.  It is recommended that animals have all the necessary vaccinations.

11. Exhibitors with milk cows have access to the milking parlor.  Exhibitors are required to bring a wheelbarrow for removing manure to the manure pit.

12. All milk will be sampled and anyone with antibiotics in the milk will forfeit all prize money.  This will be monitored closely.

13. The 125 BCA performance entry requirement has been removed.  It is recommended that official performance data be posted in plain sight at the exhibit’s stall.

14. All “Showmen” are to be dressed in white pants before entering the ring.

15. Reserved trailer hookups are available at a cost of $30.00/hookup for the duration of the fair.  Please indicate on your entry form if you require a hookup and the length of your trailer.

 16. If you need any supplies of hay, straw or shavings during the fair please place your order on your entry form.

Class  9   Female, born Sept. 1, 2004 -Aug. 31, 2005 (3 year old).   In milk or dry. If dry, must be within approximately 8 weeks of calving

Class  10    Female, born Sept. 1, 2003 - Aug. 31, 2004 (4 year old).   In milk or dry. If dry, must be within approximately 8 weeks of calving           

Class 11    Female, born Sept. 1, 2002 -Aug. 31, 2003 (5 year old).  In milk or dry.   If dry, must be within approximately 8 weeks of calving

Class 12  Female, born prior to Sept. 1, 2002 (mature cow).  In milk or dry. If dry, must be within approximately 8 weeks of calving

Class 13 Breeders Herd (by exhibitor). A group of three animals limited to one exhibit per exhibitor. Exhibitor must have bred all three animals and own at least twoThe registration certificate for each respective animal must show the exhibitor as «breeder» and as «owner» in     both cases either as an individual or in partnership. In other words, the exhibitor may be a «joint owner/joint  breeder» of an animal. Note the exception:  where another exhibitor may own one animal.

 For animals entered in classes 8-12 a $40.00 milking bonus for each cow shown will be added to the exhibitors prize winnings.

Best Udder -The Judge shall designate the best udder in each of classes 8, 9, 10, and 11 above. Prizes: $50.00 for each winner

Classe 14

“Supreme Show” - The top animal from each breed will compete and show their animals.  These animals will compete for Supreme Show Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons.  No Entry Fee

-The maximum number of exhibits from a breeding unit is 10. For junior female, dry cow and male classes, exhibits per breeding unit are restricted to a maximum of two exhibits per class. There is no restriction on multiple exhibits for milking female classes.
