DEMOLITION DERBY – REGULATIONS

Driver Rules

1.                   Drivers must wear approved race of motorcycle type helmet with chin strap fastened.

2.                   If windshield has been removed from car, an approved face shield must be worn.  Not glasses.

3.                   Seatbelts must be worn and securely fastened.

4.                   Cars must be inspected and approved by inspector 1/2 hour before race time.

5.                   Flagman must be obeyed at all times.

6.                   Drivers must attend put meeting 15 minutes prior to race time.

7.                   Decision of judges and flagman is final.

8.                   Driver will be disqualified immediately for any violation of the above rules.

9.                   Any driver caught drinking or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, before or during the race, will be disqualified.

10.                Drivers must be over 18 years of age.

11.                Leave doors unpainted.

 

Cars must be prepared in the following manner or will not be permitted to enter race :

1.                   All glass except windshield must be removed completely from car, not left broken in doors.

2.                   Backseats must be removed including station wagons.

3.                   All trailer hitches must be removed.

4.                   No door or frame reinforcement.

5.                   All exterior chrome must be removed.

6.                   Stock gas tanks must be removed from original location.  A limited capacity gas tank must be mounted in front of the rear axel, secured by two (2) metal straps and may be covered by a metal shield.  Gas tanks must be metal.  If original gas tank is used, it must be covered by a metal shield and secured with two (2) metal straps.  No reserve tanks allowed.  All caps, fittings, and lines must be leak proof.  No more than three gallons of gas allowed in tank.  Battery must remain in original location.

7.                   No loose objects or materials inside cars.

8.                   Seatbelts must be fastened to frame or body.

9.                   All doors must be chained shut with 3/16  or larger chain and bolted with 5/16or larger bolts.  No loose ends.  Hardtops through door panels and around door posts.  Station wagon tailgates at both ends.

10.                Hood and trunk not to be chained or wired down.

11.                Battery may e protected in any manner providing it does not add any support to body or frame.

12.                Driver’s seat must have back support and be secured to body or frame.

13.                All cars must be in pit area one (1) hour before race time for inspection.

14.                No trucks, vans, or convertibles.

15.                All cars must be approved by inspector.

 

Preparation for Pick Up Trucks

  1. All rules for the stock and classes apply.  Fuel tank strapped in box – 2 metal straps.
  2. A cage may be made in the cab to protect the driver (stock car style).  For your security, it is recommended to put cement in the driver’s door only.
  3. The box must be attached to the frame with metal reinforcements and bolts.  These reinforcements

must be placed in the box 1 foot from the cab to 1 foot from the tailgate.  The extremities must be

connected in order to form a rectangle.  NO BARS GOING ACROSS.  The tailgate must be            screwed or welded shut, no cross bars.

       4.    Original or regular tires – no double tires permitted, nor studded.

  1. Original bumpers, no reinforcement permitted.  Bumpers may be welded to the frame, but the         corners may not be reinforced.
  2. The driver’s door must be reinforced with metal or a minimum 4-inch pipe to be placed 1 foot on

the fender, crossing the door, to 1 foot on the box.

  1. Acceptable vehicles are  S-10’s, Jimmy’s, Bronco, 4 x 4’s or Van’s providing the                      front axle isn’t functional.  
  2. Pick-up races only – when a pick up is caught on a cement block, the race will be stopped, the pick-up will be freed and the race will continue without any disqualification.  This will improve the quality of the show.
