SHEEP-GOAT RULES

1. Classes are open to residents  of the Provinces of Quebec and Ontario.

2. Entries close May 28th.  Entry Fee:  If entered prior to the closing date,  the entry fee will be $6.00 per animal  (taxes included).   If entered after the closing date, the entry fee will be $8.00 per animal.  

15% will be deducted from prize winnings

3. All animals must be on the grounds Friday, June 11th before 6:00 p.m. and will be shown Saturday, June 12th, commencing at 9:30  a.m., and may leave only on Sunday after 4:00 p.m.

4. The entry form must include all the necessary information (including  ATQ site number and identification number of animal).

All animals must be tagged or they will not be permitted on the grounds.  If an

animal is found without their tags, the exhibitor will be held liable for any

 infractions.

5. Exhibitors must have registration certificates on hand and produce same when requested by officials.

6.  All breeds must be shown in short fleece (staple less than 1 inch).

7. All animals shown must be owned by the exhibitor and registered in the name of the exhibitor.

8. An exhibitor may make two entries in any two classes 1 to 5, otherwise only one entry per class per exhibitor.

9. There must be at least three exhibitors in each breed of sheep classifications.  If less than three exhibitors, also 12 head in any one of the sections, only 50% of the prizes offered will be paid that section by the exhibition.

10. If you need any supplies of hay, straw or shavings during the fair please place your order on your entry form.

Class  1 - EWE - Yearling - 3rd pair of temporary incisors must be in place.

                  Born in  Canada

Class  2 -  EWE - First pair of temporary incisors must be in place.  Born on  the property of exhibitor

Classe 3 -  RAM - Yearling - 3rd pair of temporary incisors must be in place. Born in Canada

Class  4 - RAM - First pair of temporary incisors must be in place.  Born on  the property of the exhibitor

Class  5 – GET OF SIRE - A group of three animals - full mouth milk teeth, by the same sire.  Both sexes may be represented.  Born on  the property of the exhibitor.  Prizes paid as in classes 1 – 4 if there are 4  exhibitors or  more

Class  6 – BREEDERS  FLOCK.  A group of four animals, both sexes to be

represented.  Each animal must have been shown in one of the prior classes.  Bred and  owned by the exhibitor.  Prizes paid as in classes 1-4 if 4 exhibitors or more.

Class  7  CHAMPION RAM  - Open to the first and second prize winners in                                          each  section - Ribbon only

                  Reserve Champion – ribbons only

Class  8  CHAMPION EWE - Open to the first and second prize winners in each section - Ribbon only   

                  Reserve Champion Ewe - Ribbon only

Class  9       PREMIERE EXHIBITOR - Presentation and appearance of the animals as well as general appearance of the exhibit. – Ribbon only

Class  10  MARKET LAMB – Exhibitors are restricted to members of the St.Jean Valleyfield Sheep Producers Syndicate and/or Chateauguay Valley residents

  Prizes:  $40, $30, $20, $15, $10, $10, $10, $10.                  Entry Fee:  $12.00

 Lambs must be “Slick Sheared” (Less than 1" fleece)

Weight 55lbs to 90lbs

 Lambs must be on the grounds Saturday, June 12th by 9:00 a.m. and will be judged at 1:00 p.m.  Exhibits must remain until 4:00 p.m. Saturday.

Class 11 MARKET SHEEP - Exhibitors are restricted to members of the St.Jean Valleyfield Sheep Producers Syndicate and/or Chateauguay Valley residents

 Prizes:  $40, $30, $20, $15, $10, $10, $10, $10.                  Entry Fee:  $12.00

 Sheep must be “Slick Sheared” (Less than 1" fleece)

Weight 90lbs and over

Lambs must be on the grounds Saturday, June 12th by 9:00 a.m. and will be judged at 1:00 p.m.  Exhibits must remain until 4:00 p.m. Saturday.            

 

Class 12  MARKET GOAT – Exhibitors are restricted to members of the St. Jean Valleyfield Goat Producers Syndicate and/or Chateauguay Valley residents

           Prizes:  $40, $30, $20, $15, $10, $10, $10, $10.          Entry Fee:  $12.00

                  Weight 85 lbs. to 115 lbs

 Goats must be on the grounds Saturday, June 12th by 9:00 a.m. and will be judged at 1:00 p.m.Exhibits must remain until 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
